Rioja

Spain’s immense complexity in such concentrated areas allows for diversity to flourish while resonating its expression of character and culture in its food, wine and people. It´s this passion that soon became a love which ignited my desire to experience their architecture, winery design and gastronomy. I began my wine journey at one of the many bends of the Rio Ebro by Logroño, then exploring north into the humble train-side town of Haro, and navigating into the river-like backroads of Ribera del Duero.

Logroño | Imagine a densely populated city chalk full of eclectic communities rolling out into sprawling hillsides of tranquility. Just ten minutes outside of town you will encounter The Mesa Hills, protecting both the historical Viñedos del Contino and innovative pioneer which is Bodega Viña Real, vineyards that balance each other with experience and aspirations.

Viñedos del Contino

An epic start to divulge into the history of La Rioja, Viñedos del Contino has a magical presence from harnessing the power and elegance that is the backdrop and foundation of this gorgeous wine country. Originally being the land of Pedro de Samañello from the 16th century, a knight whom led hundreds of soldiers to serve the people, land and royalty both in war and in the farm “de contino” (continuously) the winery became the first château of Rioja built in 1973. A must try and staple for European winemaking with noteworthy wines for any menu.

Viña Real

Reinventing their production with an ultra-modern facility in 2004 and designed by French architect Philippe Mazières, Viña Real uses gravity guided vinification techniques to capture the essence of their grapes immediately and carefully allowing for the wines to express their truest flavors. Working side by side to Viñedos del Contino, the air of historical importance tempers a pioneering renaissance of design, innovation and craftsmanship at Viña Real. Allow these great wines to tie your experiences in with your palate.
